Homework Policy
Come prepared on Tuesdays and Fridays with all necessary materials and completed assignments.
Writing Focuses: Typed and printed out for 5th grade. Handwritten on lined notebook paper for 4th and 3rd grades, in paragraph form consistent with the writing focus. Spelling and Vocabulary: Assignments should be complete and in binder if assigned by literature teacher. Unprepared Student Protocol If students come unprepared the following protocol will be followed: The first incident: Student will miss recess to complete unfinished work. Depending on the day and the literature teacher, this could take place in the outdoor area where the students have recess OR in a study hall classroom inside. The student is invited to join literature class as soon as the work is completed. An email will be sent home to parents. The second incident: Student misses recess to complete work and a phone call will be made to the parents. The third incident: A mandatory parent/teacher/student conference will be scheduled immediately. A pattern is clearly developing and together we need to determine a reason for missing work and come up with a solution to solve the problem. The student will be placed on an Independent Work Plan throughout the rest of the school day during non-literature times. This means they will be spending time away from their team during teaming activities in other subjects. The fourth incident: Student will not be invited back to literature class until a meeting has taken place with Principal Froehlich, the literature teacher, parent, and student. Assignment Calendars
